Quality Assurance Automation Tester – ONTARIO
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Automation Tester to join our IT Delivery team.
Reporting directly to the Manager, IT Delivery, this role is responsible for both automated and manual testing activities across large-scale, complex software applications.
The ideal candidate is passionate about quality, experienced in test automation, and capable of translating business and technical requirements into effective testing strategies and automated test scripts. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure software quality, identify defects early, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our QA automation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
- Create automated test scenarios using established automation frameworks and tools.
- Update and maintain object repositories, libraries, and automation framework components.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize automated test scripts.
- Create and maintain scripts for test data setup and manipulation.
- Support automation strategy development and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Create detailed test cases from functional and technical requirements.
- Contribute to the development of comprehensive test plans.
- Execute both manual and automated testing activities across multiple applications.
- Ensure testing activities align with established QA processes and standards.
- Track, document, and report testing progress, outcomes, and metrics.
- Estimate testing efforts and support project timelines.
Defect Management & Collaboration
- Identify, document, and track software defects.
- Participate in defect triage sessions and root cause analysis activities.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Participate in project meetings and provide testing-related insights.
- Review requirements and provide feedback to improve overall product quality.
Mentorship & Process Improvement
- Mentor and support QA team members with automated testing practices.
- Promote best practices in test automation and quality assurance.
- Contribute to the ongoing advancement of automation frameworks, methodologies, and QA standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience creating, modifying, and maintaining automated test scripts.
OR
- Successful completion of an approved Automation Testing certification/course.
Technical Skills
- Advanced experience with automation testing tools such as:
- UFT
- Cypress
- Playwright
- Hands-on experience with:
- VB Script
- C#
- SQL scripting
- Fundamental understanding of:
- Python
- PowerShell
- JavaScript
Core Competencies
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- Experience working with automation frameworks and test execution tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret requirements and develop effective testing strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
Compensation:
$25/hr to $32/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
