Hello! We are looking for a dedicated QA Lab Tech to join the team! Del Real Foods is a traditional Mexican food manufacturer born out of a family farm. The QA Lab Technician will provide Quality Control assistance on a daily basis for production to produce wholesome safe quality products by conducting a variety of Food Safety/Quality Inspections. General daily tasks will also include the following; Safety enforcement, Employee GMP enforcement, Facility inspections, assures SOP & SSOP compliance, assure USDA & FDA Regulations are met throughout entire facility including outside premises.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Follows and enforces employee’s safety procedures

2. Report any unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor or manager

3. Follow, Monitor, and Enforce all food safety procedures

4. Follows and enforces SQF requirements (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s, and ETC)

5. Follows and enforces USDA & FDA guidelines and regulations.

6. Follow Company Policies, Regulations, and Lunch & Break Policies

7. Principal area of coverage is the company’s Pre-Operational Inspections

8. Conducts minor microbiological laboratory work duties (as requested)

9. Follows and enforces the company’s Sanitation Operations Inspections

10. Assist in various projects such as validation studies when needed etc.

11. Follows and enforces SQF requirements (Facilities, Equipment, SSOP, SOP, GMP’s, and ETC)

12. Initiated proper corrective actions when non-conformances occur

13. Perform Microbiological Testing (e.g. TPC, total coliforms, Gem E. coli/ 0157:h7, Salmonella, yeast and mold, And Staphylococcus aureus on finished product

14. Perform some lab testing such as water activity, % moisture, pH, viscosity, salt% etc.

15. Maintain updated laboratory testing procedures and good laboratory practice

16. Manage Q.A Lab by ensuring adequate inventory of supplies are on hand to complete required testing in a timely manner.

17. File and maintain laboratory reports and records

18. Assists the Quality Assurance Manager with Product, Processes, Sanitation validation studies etc.

19. Manages the companies Environmental Monitoring Program (APC, ATP, Listeria etc.)

20. Conducts the company’s glass and brittle plastic program and maintains it by adding/removing active/non-active glass and/or brittle plastic stations

21. Conducts Allergen validation tests

22. Conducts Compressed Air validation studies

23. Conducts “Gluten Free” validation studies of all Gluten-free products

24. Assists the Manager with the company’s overall Internal Audits

Requirements and Duties:

1. Knowledge of HACCP and GMP’s required for employee practices in a USDA Establishment.

2. Knowledge of calibration requirements for all testing equipment used for monitoring tasks of food safety and quality.

3. Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out procedures and employee safety practices

4. Ability to learn SQF Level 2 system requirements.

C. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

1. High School/ G.E.D

2. Minimum 2 years’ experience on the field (Food Industry is a plus)

3. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
