Responsibilities

The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for following established Quality Control (QC) programs to achieve and verify quality expectations for durable and reliable installations. This role oversees field inspections to ensure work complies with all applicable safety policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include documenting, implementing, and managing the Quality Control Plan for assigned projects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Gather project-specific quality requirements and review all relevant governing reference materials for the development and implementation of quality plans.
  • Create and maintain project-specific quality plans and ensure alignment between organizational and project quality requirements.
  • Conduct mutual understanding meetings with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain the Quality Control Tracking Log (QCTL), including planned and actual schedules for all phases of quality control.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific QC checklists.
  • Verify and track submittal approvals.
  • Facilitate and participate in design reviews.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with project stakeholders and customer representatives regarding issue resolution, reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and audits.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with subcontractor representatives regarding issue resolution, reporting, improvements, and audits.
  • Coordinate and facilitate inspections and audits conducted by third-party inspectors.
  • Document and tailor processes across the value stream using methodologies and frameworks such as ISO, CMMI, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, PMBOK, ITIL, and other recognized standards.
  • Identify technical and administrative controls and develop policies, procedures, and standards for control implementation.
  • Lead quality assurance, compliance, audit, deliverable review, and process improvement activities.
  • Conduct audits to assess adherence to documented policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing performance data and trends.
  • Develop project quality scorecards and report results to project leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant quality control, quality assurance, construction, engineering, or project management experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Working knowledge of the USACE/NAVFAC 3-Phase Quality Control System.
