Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are seeking a highly motivated quality engineer to help drive improvements to the Tesla QMS (Quality Management System). Cell manufacturing requires orders of magnitude better quality than traditional manufacturing, the key to sustained success and scalability is a robust quality system. This person will work with the team to build off the world class system Tesla has in place and continuously drive improvements to the system. This person is seasoned in manufacturing quality for high reliability applications such as Li-ion cells, medical, or a similar field with several years’ experience.

What You’ll Do

Drive implementation of QMS programs across all global Tesla 4680 Cell Manufacturing factories
Define and propose business process performance metrics for all levels of the organization
Improve all elements of the quality management system and how they interface with one another
Build robust systems that drive accountability and ensure successful implementation of the quality
Lead quality management reviews and internal audit program
Monitor health of system and data quality, drive KPIs
Track QMS implementation and health status of elements. Develop and populate monthly QMS reports
Work with factory teams to drive/implement solutions on the manufacturing floor
Ensure universal adoption of best practices across the 4680 network
Participates in detailed risk assessments at the product and manufacturing level to identify opportunity and drives mitigation of risks

What You’ll Bring

Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality
Experience working with lithium-ion cells or high reliability products like medical or aerospace is preferred
Experience working with well-established quality standards such as ISO or ASTM
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
Passion for systemic problem-solving using systems
Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
Can demonstrate ability to perform deadlines and perform under high pressure
Fluent with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Expected Compensation

$72,000 – $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
