POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager and/or Quality Assurance Supervisor, this position is responsible for the receipt, counting, distribution, and proper storage of labels. This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive incoming documents and shipments of labels.
Confirm label counts against packing lists.
Review received labels to ensure compliance with specifications.
Release compliant labels for use.
Manage the storage and distribution of labels to production.
Process and confirm counts of returned labels from production.
Maintain label inventory using bin locations.
Ensure all labels are kept securely in the designated label room or rack location.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory and ensure label availability to prevent packaging delays.
Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), safety protocols, company policies, and SOPs.
Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
Assist QA receiving, inspection, and sampling as directed by the QA Receiving Lead.
CROSS-TRAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform and document a wide variety of inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures during the packaging process.
Monitor packaging operations and conduct routine GMP area walkthroughs to ensure proper housekeeping, hygiene, pest control, etc.
Verify that processing equipment has been properly cleaned and sanitized.
Audit the weighing/staging process to confirm correct raw materials and amounts per the Ingredients Batch Record.
Collect in-process samples (e.g., pH, Brix, sensory) and perform required tests before batch release.
Collect and test finished product samples, including test, stability, and reserve samples.
Perform line and area clearance to ensure removal of all prior materials and readiness of work area.
Reconcile and close batch records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Verify calibration and performance of quality control instruments (e.g., balances, pH meters, refractometers).
Monitor effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation, including ATP testing.
Assist in investigations and inquiries as directed by management.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Systems & Regulatory Compliance Department.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Production or Quality role preferred.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Flexibility and adaptability to change.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong attention to detail; ability to perform basic math and audit paperwork.
Must be forklift certified.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand for long periods, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Team-oriented with a willingness to assist others to meet goals.
Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
