Heidelberg Materials is seeking a concrete Quality Control Coordinator. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Quality Control Coordinator works closely with the Quality Control/Quality Assurance staff to provide guidance and support to the Customer Service Representatives and the Dispatch team, offering technical advice on site-specific issues, mix selection, and product recommendations. The Quality Control Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance across all production processes.
This position is based in Vancouver, BC.
What You’ll Be Doing
Act as the technical advisor to the Dispatch team regarding site issues, out of spec test results, mix selection and recommendations.
Manage the process of returned concrete, including mitigating waste, risk optimization, load transfers where possible, reporting and establishing protocols, and ensuring transparency and knowledge transfer to operations through memos and training.
Liaise with the Operations team on procurement and inventory of specialized materials, labor and equipment needs, and support QC/QA staff on daily scheduling.
Assist Lab and Quality Control supervisors to identify performance trends, opportunities for optimization, enhance product performance, and ensure reproducibility.
Support the QC/QA staff in preparing and documenting non-conformance records, LEED submittals, and weekly QA reports, while presenting key performance metrics to management.
What Are We Looking For
Bachelor of Civil Engineering or a university degree in a related field (a master’s degree will be an asset).
Registered as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), maintaining good standing.
Minimum 2 years’ experience with quality assurance/quality control processes in a ready-mix concrete, construction materials or related construction environment.
Strong technical knowledge of mix designs, control procedures, and product applications, with a comprehensive understanding of applicable codes, standards, and test methods (CSA, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO).
Proven communication, problem solving, and analytical skills, with demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including the use of relevant software applications, and strong technical writing abilities.
