Aecon invites you to build your career as a Quality Control Inspector/Coordinator in the Vancouver area. This exempt role requires discretion and the ability to perform quality control inspections in the field, with potential functional guidance to craft and/or lower-level technical personnel.
What Is The Opportunity?
The Quality Control Inspector/Coordinator is an exempt position that exercises independent judgment to complete field quality control inspections.
What You’ll Do Here
- Effectively document, follow up, and close corrective actions—both internal and external.
- Promote safety awareness and participate in safety field audits and assessments as needed.
- Verify that customer quality requirements align with quality standards and program requirements for products and services provided.
- Collaborate in developing and maintaining Quality Policy, processes, procedures, and related documents. Review quality manuals, documents, and procedures to verify compliance with industry codes, standards, regulations, and commitments.
- Collaborate with management for interface on quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others).
- Review documents prepared by internal or external organizations such as quality manuals and procedures, technical deliverables, test plans and procedures, and material test reports.
- Perform material inspection on permanent material arriving on site.
- Recognize non-conformities and monitor correct disposition.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
What You Bring To The Team
- Certified in Alberta as either a Professional Engineer or certified engineering technologist; a combination of education and industry experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of direct construction inspection experience, preferably for bridge construction.
- Internal or Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001:2015) is preferred.
- ACI/CCIL certification (current within 6 months of hire).
- Understanding of construction quality standards and processes.
- Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work long hours and night shifts when required.
