About the role

As a Senior Quality Inspector and CMM Programmer at Ohio Ordnance Works Inc., you’ll be joining a premier firearms manufacturer with a legacy dating back to 1981. You’ll be part of a quality-focused team that ensures our products meet the highest standards for retail, law enforcement, and government agencies both domestic and foreign. This full-time position operates Monday through Thursday on first shift (10-hour days), where you’ll apply your technical expertise in a fast-paced manufacturing environment across our 10-acre campus. Your precision measurements and programming skills will be essential to maintaining our reputation for quality products delivered in a timely manner.

What you’ll do

Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform precise measurements and inspections
Develop and maintain CMM programs to ensure accurate and efficient inspection processes
Analyze CMM data and generate detailed inspection reports
Use calibrated gauges to determine actual size and location of component features compared to technical drawings
Improve current inspection plans, conduct product testing, and follow detailed inspection reports
Investigate and introduce process improvements for cost, efficiency, and quality
Train and mentor junior inspectors on CMM programming and operation
Assist with cross-departmental projects as directed by your supervisor
Support Engineering, Production, and Sales/Marketing teams with product-related questions and problem-solving
Work with external vendors on product-related projects as needed
Conduct training or inspections per customer requests

Basic Qualifications

2+ years of experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
3+ years of experience using precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) on technical drawings
Experience analyzing measurement data and generating detailed inspection reports

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in quality inspection within manufacturing environments
Background in aerospace, automotive, or firearms industry quality control
Associates degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Quality Assurance, or related field
CMM programmer certification or quality-related certifications (ASQ CQI, CQT, etc.)
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and procedures
Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior team members
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Proficiency with quality documentation systems and reporting software

Work Environment

Work environment spans a 10-acre campus with six buildings, requiring frequent walking between locations in various weather conditions
Position operates in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to noise, moving equipment, and standard industrial hazards
Role requires standing or walking for up to 90% of the shift
Must comply with all safety protocols including wearing required PPE in designated areas
Physical requirements include occasional bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequent reaching into CMM machines to handle parts, fixtures, or tooling (5-25 lbs)
