The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Quality Assurance and Engineering Lead to join our Denver/hybrid team.
The QE/QA Lead is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality engineering and assurance practices within the organization. This individual will not only lead the QE/QA capability for the organization but also actively contribute to creating and optimizing quality processes, frameworks, and pipelines. As the leader of these disciplines, the QE/QA Lead will ensure the effective execution of testing procedures, the establishment of best practices, and the successful delivery of high-quality software products. The role also involves overseeing the work of contract QA professionals to maintain high standards of quality and consistency across projects.
This position requires a blend of technical skills in both Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance, with a focus on hands-on testing and leadership. The QE/QA Lead will be expected to balance both the tactical and strategic aspects of quality management and lead the team toward achieving high standards of software quality.
Requirements:
Essential Functions
In collaboration with the Director of Engineering and Architecture, manage the overall strategy for quality engineering and quality assurance processes within the organization, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and industry standards.
Design, develop, and implement automated testing pipelines that integrate seamlessly into the development lifecycle, ensuring continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) of quality code.
Create, document, and communicate standard QA processes and methodologies that ensure consistent, high-quality development practices across teams.
Perform hands-on testing activities, including test case creation, execution of test scenarios, and reporting, to directly contribute to ensuring product quality.
Guide contract QA professionals to ensure quality standards are met, reviewing and approving their work, providing feedback, and addressing any concerns.
Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define test plans, review test results, and drive decisions that improve overall quality.
Establish and track key quality metrics, analyzing trends to proactively identify areas for improvement in both processes and products.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement in testing, quality assurance, and quality engineering practices, ensuring that the team remains on the cutting edge of industry standards and tools.
Mentor team members, share knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, and foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
Proficient in developing, maintaining, and optimizing automated QE pipelines, CI/CD frameworks, and test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
In-depth understanding of various QA methodologies, including manual testing, automation testing, regression testing, load testing, and performance testing.
Ability to create detailed, reusable, and effective test cases, ensuring thorough test coverage for all aspects of the software.
Experience in creating and documenting processes and workflows that drive quality improvements and streamline testing procedures.
Ability to provide leadership without formal authority, effectively guiding and mentoring team members and contract QA professionals, ensuring the successful execution of quality assurance strategies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and external contractors.
Ability to identify problems, prioritize tasks, and work independently or with the team to drive solutions in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in testing and documentation.
Able to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and oversee multiple QA projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field required.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering and Quality Assurance, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing quality processes required.
Experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD tools, and cloud platforms required.
Advanced certifications in QA or QE preferred (e.g., ISTQB, Certified Agile Tester, etc.).
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have a valid driver’s license.

This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:
Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting
Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs.
