Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all emergency vehicles are manufactured, assembled, and equipped in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, applicable safety regulations, and industry requirements. This position conducts inspections throughout the production process and performs final quality audits prior to vehicle delivery to ensure the highest levels of safety, functionality, and workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of emergency vehicles, including fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, and specialty response units.
- Verify that vehicle assemblies, components, wiring, lighting, warning systems, and installed equipment meet engineering drawings, work orders, and customer specifications.
- Inspect workmanship, fit and finish, paint quality, graphics, and overall vehicle appearance.
- Conduct functional testing of vehicle systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and emergency warning equipment.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects, non-conformances, and quality concerns to production personnel and supervisors.
- Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and corrective action records accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and service departments to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Verify compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and industry standards.
- Ensure all required quality checkpoints are completed before vehicles are released for customer delivery.
- Maintain inspection tools, testing equipment, and quality records.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or related certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing, automotive, truck body, emergency vehicle, or related industries preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and vehicle systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in documenting inspection findings and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around vehicles for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform visual inspections requiring close attention to detail.

Pay: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour
