Position: Quality Control Inspector
Employment type: Full-Time, 1st Shift
Reports to: Quality Manager

The Schedule
We have openings on both shifts. Tell us your preference when you apply.
1st Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
2nd Shift: Monday through Thursday, 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM – a 4-day work week with a 3-day weekend every week.
Overtime opportunities are available during busier periods for those who want to earn more.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Quality Control Inspector to join our manufacturing team in Spartanburg, SC. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of CNC-machined and punched components to ensure products meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and established quality standards. This role operates advanced inspection equipment daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Select parts for inspection at specified stages of the production process and perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of CNC-machined and punched components.
- Inspect for dimensional accuracy, performance, workmanship, and appearance characteristics against customer and engineering requirements.
- Operate CMM, Smartscope, Micro-Vu, and optical comparator/video imaging systems.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, verniers, plug gauges, and shop gauges.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematic diagrams, formulas, and GD&T requirements, and perform shop math.
- Test and calibrate inspection tools and gauges to established standards and quality procedures, and maintain calibration records.
- Document inspection results, issue and maintain approved drawings and controlled quality documents, and assist with document control.
- Evaluate inspection data and write reports validating conformance or documenting deviations from standards.
- Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material, and assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Report quality problems to supervision and work closely with CNC operators, machinists, supervisors, and production engineering to resolve issues and determine quality standards.
- Verify products meet customer and internal requirements before release, maintain 5S and equipment maintenance in your work area, follow all quality and safety procedures, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years work experience in a machine shop, previous work experience in quality control, and knowledge of machine shop processes; 3+ years preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, work with GD&T, and perform shop math.
- Experience using precision inspection and measurement equipment.
- Experience operating a CMM, or demonstrated ability to be trained on CMM operation.
- Working proficiency in Excel and comfort using computer systems to maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify dimensional or visual defects.
- Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, operators, supervisors, and management, work independently, and contribute as a team member.
- Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to quality.
- Must meet ITAR requirements: applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or otherwise qualify as a U.S. person as defined by ITAR.
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC machining or precision manufacturing experience, including inspecting CNC-machined and punched parts.
- Experience working with tight dimensional tolerances.
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Experience with Smartscope, Micro-Vu, optical comparator, or video imaging systems.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 or other quality-management systems, including internal audits and quality-system documentation.
- Experience with nonconformance reports, corrective actions, RMAs, ECNs, and calibration records.
- Exposure to PPAPs, Control Plans, Gage R&R, FMEA, or capability studies.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Lifting requirements are usually 10 pounds; on occasion may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Standing and/or walking approximately 50% of work time. Some exposure to noisy and dusty work environments. Protective glasses and ear plugs may be required.
