Quality Control Inspector Jobs in Valencia, CA at IPanel Systems Inc.

Purpose : Responsible for ensuring the quality and conformity of precision machined components by performing incoming, in-process, first piece inspection, and final inspections. The Quality Control Inspector works closely with CNC setup personnel, machinists, and production staff to identify and resolve quality issues, verify product compliance to engineering drawings and customer requirements, and maintain accurate quality records. This position is ideal for a hands-on inspector who thrives in a fast-paced, high-mix job shop environment.

Essential functions:

  • Perform incoming, first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision machined parts, raw materials, hardware, and outside processed components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and work instructions
  • Apply GD&T principles to verify dimensional and geometric compliance
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, thread gages, pin gages, dial indicators, and optical comparators
  • Verify incoming materials and supplier-provided documentation, certifications, and test reports
  • Approve or reject materials and products based on specifications and established quality requirements
  • Collaborate closely with CNC setup technicians and machinists to troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, setup, and process-related issues
  • Conduct first-piece inspections during setups to ensure parts meet requirements before production runs
  • Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material; assist with corrective actions and containment activities
  • Complete inspection reports, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), nonconformance reports, and quality records; maintain accurate documentation and data entry
  • Assist in reducing scrap and rework through proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company policies and safety standards
  • Support production and organizational goals by performing related quality duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment for machined-part inspection
  • Ability to accurately inspect tight-tolerance machined components
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills
  • Good math skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize workload and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3 years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop environment
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume job shop environment preferred
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
  • AS9100 experience preferred
  • Experience preparing or reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) preferred
  • CMM operating experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided
  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes and setups strongly preferred

Working conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to perform repetitive motions; to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear and move around the facility
  • Must possess visual acuity sufficient to inspect small features, surface finishes, and dimensional characteristics of precision machined parts
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs if required
  • Work performed in a combination of manufacturing and office environments
  • Exposure to shop conditions including noise, machine operations, cutting fluids, metal chips, dust, and fumes
  • Required to work on concrete floors, wearing steel toe shoes and safety goggle or respirator if needed.
  • 4/10 scheduled from 6:00 am – 4:30pm from Mon to Thu
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to support production schedules and customer requirements

Pay: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour
