Our Award-Winning Client, a rapidly growing leader in food manufacturing, is seeking a Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance to oversee and elevate quality systems across multiple production sites. This newly created leadership role plays a pivotal part in scaling operations, strengthening food safety protocols, and building cross-functional accountability as the company expands nationally.

Ideal candidates will bring a hands-on, floor-oriented leadership style with deep expertise in regulatory compliance, team development, and process optimization in a dynamic production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the quality assurance and food safety programs across multiple facilities, ensuring consistency in execution, documentation, and compliance.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and development to a growing quality team, including direct coaching of early-career managers.
Strengthen and expand written procedures, policies, and quality documentation to meet regulatory standards and customer-specific requirements.
Oversee sanitation programs, in-process checks, and make final decisions regarding product hold and release.
Analyze plant and product quality metrics, identify gaps, and drive cross-functional improvements in quality performance.
Partner with operations leadership to embed food safety and quality into daily production routines and culture.
Act as the primary contact for customer-facing quality concerns, ensuring effective resolution and proactive prevention.
Maintain and manage systems related to vendor approvals, environmental monitoring, pest control, traceability, and internal audits.
Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and third-party standards, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and GFSI (SQF/BRC) certification programs.
Lead initiatives to establish and standardize quality systems in new or expanding production facilities.
Serve as the final authority on product disposition decisions, maintaining a zero-compromise stance on food safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in food manufacturing, focused on quality assurance and food safety.
Proven track record building or upgrading quality systems in fast-scaling or multi-site environments.
Deep knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations, HACCP, and third-party audit protocols (e.g., SQF, BRC).
Experience managing co-manufacturing partners and working with major retail customers.
Skilled in team development, interdepartmental leadership, and operational alignment.
Strong knowledge of sanitation procedures, raw material verification, and in-process inspections.
Effective communicator with the ability to lead through influence and ensure organizational follow-through.
Experience with ERP systems, quality data platforms, and proficient in Microsoft Excel.
