Quality Control Inspector – Manufacturing Jobs in Elmwood Park, NJ at Phillips Precision Medicraft

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our manufacturing team in Elmwood Park, NJ.

The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting precision-manufactured parts throughout various stages of the production process to ensure they meet customer specifications, blueprint requirements, and company quality standards. This position will perform First Piece, Intermediate, Incoming, Outside Service, and Final Inspections and work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a manufacturing quality environment, is comfortable reading blueprints and specifications, and is proficient with standard precision measuring and inspection equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of manufactured components at various stages of production.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
  • Perform First Piece, First Article, Intermediate, Incoming, and Final Inspections as required.
  • Measure parts using precision inspection equipment, including:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Height gages
  • Other standard inspection and gaging equipment
  • Verify that manufactured components meet customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
  • Accurately document inspection results and complete required quality/inspection reports.
  • Identify nonconforming or questionable product and immediately communicate quality concerns to Quality Management and Manufacturing.
  • Assist Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering with inspection-related issues and projects.
  • Participate in Gage R&R studies and other quality-related projects when required.
  • Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company quality procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Department.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Quality Control Inspector, Quality Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, or similar manufacturing inspection position.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of dimensional inspection methods, tolerances, sampling, and inspection plans.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Trade school or additional quality/manufacturing training is a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in the medical device or precision manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working within an ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001 quality system.
  • Experience performing First Piece and First Article Inspections.
  • Familiarity with Gage R&R studies and inspection fixture setups.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with inspection work.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, push, and pull as required.
