We are currently looking for a QA Assistant to join our Quality Assurance group. The Quality Assurance Assistant position plans and executes quality assurance activities to ensure facility compliance to industry standards. This position supports manufacturing standards, maintains test records and SOPs generated or utilized by the company, and is responsible for supporting the Regulatory Department in reviewing studies, reviewing test protocols, and assembling data packages for registration submissions for reviewing studies, test data, and assembling data packages for product release. The Quality Assurance Assistant should possess basic knowledge of biology and be familiar with general lab equipment with a plus for experience in manufacturing and GLP environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Essential Functions:

Assist in the development of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) when appropriate and ensure effective reporting mechanisms are developed and followed.
Ensure Production, QA, QC, and other departmental procedures and documentation are accurate and relevant.
Monitor raw material and finished product sampling, testing, and disposition assuring adequate, appropriate, and complete documentation and traceability.
Monitor manufacturing plant and company personnel for compliance to GLP, cGMP, OMRI, and ISO specifications and protocols.
Assist in supplier and internal audits as required.
Support the investigation of complaints, corrective actions, and nonconforming materials.
Confer with PFG management to identify, plan, and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater efficiency, quality, and compliance within the company.
Conduct employee training sessions as needed and as applicable to ensure company compliance to GLP, cGMP, OMRI, and ISO specifications.
Maintain awareness of R&D and manufacturing policies, safety concerns, and environmental conditions that can impact product quality.
Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
Perform data review for batch records, environmental monitoring, and daily work logs.
Analyze data trends and create summary reports.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A B.S. in a Chemical or Biological discipline plus one to three years of work experience.

Experience: Some knowledge of or experience in GLP/GMP/QA compliance requirements is a plus.

Location: This is an onsite role.

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods.
Extensive use of computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
Must have manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and perceive attributes of objects, and be able to perform light physical, non-strenuous daily activities of a productive/technical nature.
Must be able to function in an indoor office, laboratory, and production setting.
Must be able to deal with exposure to frequent air contamination such as disagreeable odors and may be exposed to toxic or caustic substances which will require the use of applicable PPE such as safety glasses, lab coats, and respirators.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time during the course of daily activities.
Must be able to fly or drive for extended periods, up to 15 hours and including overnight.

Mental Requirements:

Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to substantially understand the position to apply knowledge and skills to tasks and projects.
Ability to perform detailed procedures and tasks that require moderate independent planning, initiative, and judgement.
Ability to understand implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
Ability to competently exercise independent judgement in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Ability to manage projects with minimal direction.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations and to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Travel:

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to rent cars if necessary. Ability to travel by car, train, and air domestically and internationally. Expected travel for this position may be up to 4 weeks per year and will be overnight, periodically on weekends, and up to one week in duration for one trip.
