About the Position
AGL Aerospace, an FAA-approved Part 145 Repair Station, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector – Structures / Airframe & Composites to join our Quality team.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience inspecting aircraft structures, sheet metal, composites, and/or related aerospace components. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all repairs and maintenance activities meet applicable FAA regulations, approved technical data, customer requirements, and company procedures.
The successful candidate will work closely with technicians, supervisors, engineering, and Quality Management to ensure that aircraft components are properly inspected, documented, and released in accordance with applicable requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform receiving, in-process, final, and return-to-service inspections of aircraft structures and components.
- Inspect airframe structures, sheet metal, composite repairs, bonded structures, and related components.
- Verify workmanship and conformity to approved technical data, engineering drawings, repair instructions, CMMs, SRMs, AMMs, and other applicable maintenance data.
- Interpret and utilize aircraft maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, engineering orders, drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, materials, fasteners, configurations, and repair conditions.
- Perform visual inspections and utilize appropriate inspection tools and measuring equipment.
- Verify that completed repairs comply with applicable FAA, customer, and company requirements.
- Identify nonconformities, discrepancies, and workmanship issues and ensure proper documentation and disposition.
- Review work orders, inspection records, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure proper traceability of materials, parts, processes, and inspection results.
- Support investigations of quality issues, discrepancies, and customer complaints.
- Assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate inspection records in accordance with company procedures and FAA requirements.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Maintain a strong understanding of FAA Part 145 requirements and the company’s Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual.
- Perform additional inspection and quality-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Quality Control Inspector, Quality Inspector, Aircraft Inspector, or similar position within the aviation/aerospace industry.
- Experience with aircraft structures, sheet metal, composites, or structural component repairs.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements applicable to Part 145 Repair Stations.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Structural Repair Manuals (SRM)
- Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM)
- Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM)
- Engineering Orders / Engineering Instructions
- Drawings and specifications
- Work instructions and approved repair data
- Strong understanding of aircraft structural repair and inspection practices.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Ability to identify workmanship discrepancies and determine compliance with approved data.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work with electronic documentation systems.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Airframe Mechanic Certificate (A&P) preferred.
- Previous experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
- Experience with composite repair inspection.
- Experience with sheet metal and structural repairs.
- NDT experience or familiarity with NDT processes such as PT, MT, UT, or ET is a plus.
- Experience with NADCAP, AS9100, ISO 9001, or customer-specific quality requirements is a plus.
- Previous experience with PMA, DER-approved repairs, or FAA-approved engineering data is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations including 14 CFR Part 43 and Part 145.
