Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our team as a volunteer. The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, reliability, and usability of CSA’s digital platforms. This role is essential in maintaining high-quality software performance, improving user experience, and ensuring accessibility for all users, especially vulnerable communities who rely on our services.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Quality Assurance

Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate software functionality.
Conduct manual and automated testing to identify bugs, usability issues, and performance gaps.
Perform regression testing to ensure that new updates do not negatively impact existing features.

Bug Identification & Reporting

Identify, document, and prioritize software defects and inconsistencies.
Collaborate with developers and product managers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Maintain a well-organized log of defects, resolutions, and test results for continuous improvement.

User Experience & Accessibility Testing

Test the platform’s user interface (UI) for accessibility and compliance with WCAG standards.
Conduct usability testing to ensure the platform is intuitive and user-friendly.
Provide recommendations for improvements based on user feedback and industry best practices.

Performance & Security Testing

Evaluate system performance under various conditions and loads to identify bottlenecks.
Ensure security best practices are followed to protect sensitive user data.
Work with developers to implement security testing methodologies.

Process Improvement & Documentation

Establish and document quality assurance processes, guidelines, and best practices.
Develop test case repositories and training materials for future QA team members.
Continuously refine testing procedures based on new technologies and user needs.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

Work closely with software developers, AI engineers, and UI/UX designers to ensure seamless product development.
Assist customer support teams in troubleshooting and resolving reported user issues.
Provide insights to leadership on overall software quality and areas for enhancement.

Qualifications

Proven experience in software quality assurance, testing, or a related field.
Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, JMeter, or Cypress.
Familiarity with bug-tracking tools like Jira, Bugzilla, or Trello.
Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA compliance) is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
