PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting the Lead Laboratory Technician and Customer Relations/Inventory Specialist with the day-to-day quality operations of Allan Brother’s receiving quality control lab, off-site receiving lab locations and the production quality control lab.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reporting to the Laboratory Technician Lead and the Quality Control Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will work closely with all receiving and production department key employees, including management. On occasion, this employee will assist horticultural researchers, vendors, buyers, marketing assistant/manager and executives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The essential functions listed below are not intended to reflect all duties that may be assigned to this position. Allan Brothers may augment duties, including essential functions, at its discretion.)
1. Assist with the day-to-day quality operations of the receiving quality control lab, off-site receiving lab locations and the production quality control lab.
2. Assist with post-harvest and import organizations and inspections.
3. Assist with buyer/vendor order inspections.
4. Assist with aged inventory inspections and reports.
5. Inspect product to determine the quality, condition, and/or compliance with Pack with Pride standards and storage parameters.
6. Document and inform appropriate personnel of quality concerns and initiate corrective actions as needed.
7. Complete inspection reports regarding fruit quality.
8. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
· General math skills.
· Working knowledge of basic computer functions.
· Fruit industry.

· Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of people.
· Be detail-oriented and have excellent time management skills.
· Manage multiple projects at a time.
· Read and interpret written documents such as policies, procedures and instructions.
· Follow detailed procedures and ensures accuracy in documentation and data.
· Organize and prioritize inspections.
· Distinguish colors for grading apples.
· Identify and communication quality issues both written and verbal.
· Work comfortably in a laboratory/office/outdoor/cold storage environment.
· Life 45 pounds above head.
· Travel up to 25%.
· Be at work as scheduled and in a timely manner.
· Maintain a clean and neat work area.
· Work overtime as needed.
EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING: (The recommended experience, education, licenses and training required for the position.)
· High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED), preferred.
· Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Experience in processing, packing, storage, and/or merchandising of fruit and vegetables, preferred.
· Valid Driver License with insurance.
· Bilingual (English and Spanish both written and verbal), preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The Laboratory Technician will primarily work in a laboratory/office environment and occasionally exposed to cold storage and outdoor environment which can be cold or warm/hot and loud. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to complete essential job functions; this may include overtime, weekends and some holidays.
Compensation: $18.13 per hour
