Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality control at the San Antonio plant. This role is central to acquiring, evaluating, and acting on quality control data, supporting QC staff, resolving issues, and driving long-term quality improvements. The position requires strong collaboration with plant personnel, corporate QA, and the Technical Center to ensure all products meet the company’s high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee quality control for finished products, raw materials, and manufactured concentrates.
Provide leadership and support to the plant’s QC team.
Monitor internal QC testing, vendor data, and QA data to identify trends and issues; lead or support investigations and corrective actions as needed.
Troubleshoot quality concerns by assessing materials, equipment, and processes. Guide QC staff and management on managing nonconforming products and materials.
Prepare technical reports outlining issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for the Plant Manager, Technical Center, and executive leadership.
Maintain and update the plant’s formula master book, QC manual, and raw material approval documentation. Ensure batch formulas and bills of materials (BOM) align with approved standards.
Coordinate and lead quality training for local staff; ensure training requirements are met in collaboration with the Technical Center.
Manage and mentor QC team members to meet plant and corporate quality goals.
Collaborate with the Technical Center on new product designs, raw material approvals, problem-solving, and technical training.
Support and contribute to company-wide quality control initiatives and strategies.
Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial quality control, preferably in materials or chemical manufacturing.
At least 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Access is a plus.
Able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, respirator, gloves, and hearing protection.
Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
Capable of working independently with limited supervision.
Working Conditions:
Split between office and plant floor environments; exposure to variable weather and temperature conditions.
Potential exposure to dust, cement, solvents, fuels, and other industrial materials.
Regular interaction with manufacturing equipment and electrical systems.
Requires 40–50 hours per week over 5–6 days.
Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms.
Occasional travel may be required.
