Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our team as a volunteer. The Lead QA Specialist will be responsible for overseeing testing processes, ensuring the reliability and performance of CSA’s digital platforms, and implementing best practices for software quality assurance. This leadership role is crucial in maintaining high standards for system functionality, security, and accessibility to support vulnerable communities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy to ensure product reliability and user satisfaction.
Lead and mentor a team of QA specialists, ensuring best practices in software testing and quality control.
Define QA standards, guidelines, and processes to maintain high-quality digital platforms.
Test Planning & Execution
Design, document, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
Conduct manual and automated testing to identify bugs, performance issues, and UI inconsistencies.
Perform regression testing to ensure that new features do not negatively impact existing functionalities.
Automation & Performance Testing
Implement test automation frameworks and scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or JMeter.
Optimize automated testing to improve efficiency and reduce manual testing workload.
Conduct load and performance testing to assess system scalability and responsiveness.
Bug Tracking & Reporting
Identify, document, and prioritize software defects, providing detailed reports to the development team.
Work closely with software engineers and product managers to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
Maintain a well-organized log of test results, defects, and resolutions for continuous improvement.
User Experience & Accessibility Testing
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG and ADA.
Conduct usability testing to improve user experience and ease of access for diverse user groups.
Provide recommendations for UI/UX enhancements based on testing results and user feedback.
Security & Compliance Testing
Identify security vulnerabilities and work with developers to implement patches.
Ensure all digital platforms comply with data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
Conduct penetration testing to identify potential risks and strengthen system security.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with software developers, AI engineers, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless product development.
Collaborate with customer support teams to address and resolve reported user issues.
Provide quality assurance insights and recommendations to leadership and product teams.
Qualifications
Proven experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or software testing leadership.
Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, QA processes, and software development life cycle (SDLC).
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools (Selenium, Cypress, JMeter, or similar).
Familiarity with bug-tracking and project management tools (Jira, Trello, Bugzilla).
Understanding of accessibility testing standards (WCAG, ADA compliance).
Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset.
Experience leading QA teams and implementing testing best practices.
Passion for using technology to drive social impact and improve community services.
