At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Lead to join our team in Long Beach, California.

Doncasters is a leading international manufacturer of specialist superalloys and high – precision alloy components made for the most demanding conditions with manufacturing facilities in Europe, USA Mexico, China, and India. Our site Superalloys of Long Beach, based in California specializes in the production of high-performance vacuum refined superalloys serving the aerospace, Industrial Gas Turbine, and automotive market.

Long Beach employees around 120 employees and is always growing! Long Beach is situated in the sunny California, close to the beautiful beaches and national parks in LA!

The Role:

The Quality Lead is the owner of CAPI’s Quality Management System and RCCA (Root Cause/ Corrective Action) program. The Quality Lead is responsible for maintaining AS9100 accreditation and compliance to AS13100. This is achieved by carrying out internal/external audits to ISO/AS standards and internal CAPI processes. The ideal candidate will be flexible with scheduling, be able to adjust priorities, communicate well, be organized, and plan each task in advance.

Responsibilities:

Overall responsibility for Quality activities across the business
Lead all customer communications regarding product quality and specification revisions
Create and implement best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
Ensure that quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets that enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market in a sustained manner
Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
Contribute to overall business strategy
Lead and manage the quality function from product conception through to shipment so that customers receive the product to the highest standard of quality possible
Drive any necessary culture change and improvement in business performance to deliver strategic goals
Establish quality and reliability standards by studying industry benchmarks and the requirements of customers and research/design and development, and define the metrics required to assess performance against standards required
Coordinate all non-conformance activity (see bullet points below for more detail) from initial documentation, maintaining the Non-Conformance log, capturing and facilitating all stages of the non-conformance investigation process and collation of and closure of all corrective actions.
Handling concession requests and notification of deviant heats after disposition
Handling customer complaints
Logging and facilitating all internal audit non-conformances and actions to timely closure
Logging and facilitating all supplier non-conformances and actions to timely closure
Perform Corrective action verification activities.
Active facilitation of company Quality Clinic.
Carry out Internal Audits as required (pre-melting, melting, post cast processing audits, process audits, AS9100 & ISO9001 system audits).
Act as Quality Champion by carrying out Quality Tool Box Talks or communicating the Quality message to all CAPI Employees.
Review customer POs and create product certifications

Salary range: 95K to 110K

Requirements:

Experience and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Quality Assurance or Manufacturing discipline or equivalent
Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards
Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Management Systems
Experience performing internal audits to ISO9001/AS9100 standards
Prior participation in AS9100/ISO 9001 external compliance audits
Manufacturing industry experience highly preferred
Previous experience with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with computers (word, excel, power point); ideally able to manipulate data in excel and to create Pareto charts using pivot tables
