Role Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented QA Tester with expertise in custom applications and GIS testing. The ideal candidate will have experience in Agile environments, be proficient in manual and automated testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software quality. This role requires hands-on experience with test planning, execution, defect management, and reporting to ensure seamless product delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform functional and non-functional testing for custom applications and GIS components.
Create and document test plans, test scenarios, and test cases, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Execute manual and automated tests, analyze results, and report anomalies from a business end-user perspective.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and project managers.
Operate within an Agile framework, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Ensure test cases align with QA standards and accurately track metrics.
Work closely with business partners, PMO, and vendor technical teams to understand business requirements.
Identify and report bottlenecks, issues, and risks to management.
Assist business subject matter experts (SMEs) in developing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios.
Participate in defect triage meetings and provide test execution demos.
Prepare and report weekly status updates to the Quality Assurance Testing Lead.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
General Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing for development projects.
Hands-on experience with mid-to-large scale system development projects.
Proficiency in test automation, test strategy, and executing test scripts & plans.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to review and analyze system specifications (Requirements, Design Documents, etc.).
Experience in documenting Requirement Traceability Matrices (RTM) and ensuring UAT readiness.
Experience in mobile application testing is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Technical Skills & Tools:
Ability to perform various types of testing, including:
System Testing
Regression Testing
Performance & Load Testing
Security Testing
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Testing
Post-go-live Testing & Validation
Proficiency in manual and automated testing.
Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TestComplete).
Experience working with GitHub, ServiceNow, TFS, and JIRA.
Ability to prepare test data for execution.
Specialized Experience:
Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) concepts and best practices.
Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC.
Familiarity with defect management tools (TFS / JIRA).
Experience in public sector projects is a plus.
GIS-Specific Testing Experience:
Experience in testing GIS applications and components.
Knowledge of spatial data validation, performance testing of map rendering, and API integrations (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Maps API).
Preferred Certifications:
International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB)
Certified Test Engineer (CSTE)
Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST)
