About the role

The Waste Process/Laboratory Technician role is a hybrid position at our new facilities designed to meet safety, production and compliance requirements until such time as a full-time Laboratory Technician is needed. This position offers the successful candidate two separate operations career paths from which they can pursue in the future.

Roles and Responsiblities:

The WPT role will be responsible for safely receiving, processing, and shipping waste materials through the Reworld Material Processing Facility (MPF). The WPT is required to always work safely and compliantly while performing the following tasks based on the needs of the individual Business Unit.
The Laboratory Technician role will be responsible to ensure that inbound materials meet the parameters promulgated on the waste profile, ensure that materials are not hazardous wastes, run pre-acceptance treatability studies to include BTU, Halogens, moisture & ash content, and ensures that outbound Alternative Engineered Fuel production meets the acceptance specifications of our off-take partners.

Waste Processing Responsibilities:

Off-loading and loading trucks to include van trailers, end-dumps, walking floor trailers, roll-off containers, and tankers.
Waste stream QA/QC, which includes verifying container count, shipping labels and markings, manifest number and other relevant data needed for waste processing and invoicing.
Container sampling and recognizing non-conforming and discrepant material. • Physically move material throughout the facility to the different processing areas as needed.
. Processing of inbound materials through several treatment technologies to include wastewater treatment, material solidification, the production of Alternative Engineered Fuel (AEF), Thermal Treatment Fuel (TTF), and Tire Derived Fuel (TDF).
Operate processing equipment to include shredders, Eco-Hog, mixing pits, transfer pumps and conveyors.
Perform routine operator level maintenance on equipment to include fueling, greasing and daily inspections.
Understand the facility operating permit requirements and conduct daily activities to support all safety and compliance requirements. • Identify and report all hazards immediately; use Stop Work Authority (SWA) when required.
Understand and adhere to Reworld’s Life Critical Safety rules.
Waste stream QA/QC & Lab analysis associated with receiving and shipping waste and material.
Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to pressure washers, power tools, hand trucks, forklifts, manlifts and other power tools in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA requirements.
Safely operate mobile equipment (e.g., yard dog) within the facility boundaries.
Able to safely load and off load inbound packages, liquid trucks, and containers.
Process inbound material using facility and mobile equipment.
Complete and submit all facility associated paperwork associated for regulatory compliance and invoicing.
Spill containment and clean up.
Participate in facility audits and inspections.
Successfully complete initial and ongoing training to enhance your core.
Maintain facility housekeeping. • Perform other duties as assigned by Reworld management.

Laboratory Technician Responsibilities

Ensures the Health and Safety of employees by following policies, procedures, identifying hazards and acting in a safe manner at all times.
Maintains inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment along with providing data to management regarding trends in waste analysis including Reworld Alternative Engineered Fuel (AEF).
Uses a variety of instrumentation to generate comprehensive and high-quality analytical results.
Utilizes programs such as Salesforce and MS Office regularly to report findings.
Effectively communicates analytical results and conclusions to different departments. Helps operations to develop “Blend” recipes for engineered fuel and waste-to-energy.
Performs 1st approvals on inbound profiles.
Performs routine lab analysis on samples and inbound load inspections.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment along with troubleshooting lab equipment. Establishes preventive maintenance schedules and coordinates contractors for equipment that cannot be serviced in-house.
Quality Control of all incoming QA/QC and bulk materials along with laboratory data and reports.
Ordering and inventory control of laboratory materials.
Maintains facility environmental compliance by operating within promulgated external and internal rules and regulations.
Calibrates and documents daily inspections of assigned equipment.
Identifies, profiles, and secures pricing at 3rd party disposal outlets for problematic materials that cannot be managed in the Reworld network.
Provides support updating of facility SOP’s, when required.
Performs other duties as required to include direct customer interface, external sales, internal sales, and facilities to aid in the approval process as well as completing actual approvals.
Maintains current training for self on equipment use, Standard Operating Procedures and health & safety policies; uses Vairkko training database when appropriate.
Reports relevant information to assigned employees and company management concerning area activity, special problems and opportunities that may be present.
Prepares daily production reports and participates in conference calls and Team Meetings as required.
Maintains facility wide housekeeping.

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma / GED preferred; Reworld offers GED Works – a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED
1+ year of experience in shipping/receiving.
Forklift experience. • Able to pass respirator fit test and maintain respiratory clearance. • Ability to use Company software applications such as NetSuite, Ideagen, UKC, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Must exercise good judgement and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrate diligence and time management. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to be “On-call” and work overtime if required.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to operate forklifts, hand trucks, and other power tools.
Must be able to lift and move up to fifty pounds.
Kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, or twisting for extended periods of time.
Walking and/or standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
Tolerate working from heights, extreme temperature variations, and outside work.
Ability to wear PPE required for safe job completion.
