Essence Group is seeking an experienced Quality Control Officer to join the Quality Team in a permanent full-time position based on site at the South Nowra facility. This is a Monday to Friday role with standard working hours of 6am – 2pm with some occasional flexibility required.

Your new role
In conjunction with the QA Manager the QC Officer duties will include:
Implementation, review, maintenance and verification of the Food Safety and Quality system.
Inwards goods assessments of raw materials and packaging.
Daily production inspections to ensure compliance with GMP, batch details verification and adherence to compliant and safe practices.
Review of completed production documents to verify all steps have been recorded and conducted correctly.
Laboratory results review, specification verification, and preparation of Certificates of Analysis for goods release.
Review and filing of retention samples and documents associated with batch release.
Detailed inspections of production areas after cleaning, then verify using protein, hygiene, and allergen tests.
Participate in the environmental monitoring program by preparing samples for water, compressed air, and swab testing.
Prepare and distribute quality records, documents, and logbooks for use by production staff.
Regular facilitation of temperature monitoring at key site locations via data logger information downloads.
Prepare reports on quality parameters eg. Complaints, CARs, deviations etc as requested by the QA Manager.
Participate in currency review of authorised documents.
Engage in training to increase knowledge of HACCP and GMP as required.
Participate in troubleshooting issues as part of complaint, corrective action, and deviation investigations.
Ad hoc QA/QC duties within the Quality Team as requested.
Essential Criteria
Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience, preferably in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry or food technology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
High attention to detail.
Ability to effectively self-manage work priorities to meet schedule requirements.
Intermediate proficiency using and maintaining Excel spreadsheets.
Evidence of unlimited rights to work in Australia.
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).
Intermediate proficiency using SAP.
Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
HACCP training/knowledge.
TGA experience would be highly regarded.
