Responsibilities

  • Must ensure that finished products meet all customers or internal specifications and quality requirements.
  • Document and report inspection findings and monitor corrective action.
  • Ensure calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment.
  • Communicate with project engineers to ensure drawings are in compliance with the final product.
  • Conduct various Lab tests and quality checks on all finished products.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by lead workers.

Inspection and Testing:

  • Before products go into production – test samples.
  • Ensure the product functions properly and is compliant with related specifications for the product.
  • During the production process, inspect products being manufactured.
  • Checks daily Quality recording documents from Production for accuracy and trends and files documents.
  • Measure, weigh or test products to ensure quality meets specifications.
  • Test products during different phases of production line or test products randomly.
  • Monitor & inspect equipment used for inspection ensuring the equipment continuously functions properly.
  • Reject products that do not meet specifications.

Reporting:

  • Prepare reports regarding inspections that will be reviewed by supervisors and engineers.
  • Works together with supervisors and engineers to analyze production issues, resolve problems and improve quality during the manufacturing process.
  • After report analysis, together with Senior Management, adjust equipment or change the production process to improve product quality.
  • Performs Goods-Receiving inspection and documents findings according to the Procedures.
  • Identifies, quantifies and records/labels Non-Conforming Production both internally and returns from customers and isolates this Production for further action.
  • Takes joint-responsibility together with the Production Supervisor for any Product manufactured under Concession.
  • Verifies that Production- and Quality documentation is correct for use according to Production Order and Product File.
  • Take every opportunity to discuss with production personnel: product quality, correct use of documentation and inspection equipment.
  • Encourage positive interaction between the quality and production personnel.
  • Reporting SES, unsafe working & housekeeping issues in the factory.
  • Assists the Quality Manager with:
  • Preparing master samples for new tool development and arrange labels + documents to be sent to the customer.
  • Maintaining various Master Registers: Mater Samples -Customer, Production First-Offs, Colour and Limit and No OK; and Gauges together with drawing registers.
  • Preparing for Audits.
  • Promoting basic Quality Awareness in Production.
  • Monitoring Corrective- and Preventative Actions with appropriate documentation and reporting.
  • Prepare sample packs for marketing purposes.
  • Creating Sample boards/ Claims board/ Care points/ Preventative initiative examples.

Lab Tests:

  • Perform apparent density and moisture content tests on incoming Corvic raw material, dry blends and keep records thereof, refer WI-8.2.3. Inform the QC and the Plasmix manager immediately if any variations are noticed.
  • Perform and record all methylene test results.
  • Heat Resistance Tests to be conducted on all injection moulding items.
  • B-Plast product testing for SABS requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment. Ideally Polymer industry.
  • Must have experiencing working with Master Samples and signing off start of productions.
  • Must be able to use and read measurements on tape measure and vernier.
  • Must be able to read and understand cross sectional technical drawings.
  • Must be able to understand conversions.
  • Must have an eye for defects / special attention to detail.
  • Must have 5 years experience in the Quality Field.
  • Good Knowledge of MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone and presentation.
  • Independent, responsible, pro-active, discreet and reliable individual.
  • Good time management and able to operate both individually and as part of a team.
  • Neat and tidy, honest and organized. Strong administrative skills.
  • Logical thought process and willing to continuously learn and adapt to changes in the environment.
