We are seeking a Quality ControlQuality Assurance, Research and Development Engineer to ensure the highest quality standards of construction products while driving continuous improvement and supporting innovation. The job incumbent will play a critical role in testing, validating, and improving existing products, developing new formulations, and ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations.

The role will focus on ensuring the highest quality standards and maintaining product consistency across both liquid and powder-based construction products, including admixtures, waterproofing systems, sealants, tile adhesives, grouts, plasters, and repair mortars.

Key responsibilities:

Quality Control

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the QC function to enhance process reliability and product conformity.
  • Review, refine, and optimize existing QC processes, tools, and methodologies to improve overall quality performance and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct daily quality inspections on raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
  • Perform laboratory tests following company procedures, technical standards, and applicable norms.
  • Monitor product performance through defined QC parameters and ensure consistency in production.
  • Investigate quality deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate testing documentation, reports, and quality records.
  • Support production teams to ensure quality requirements are fully understood and met.

Quality Assurance

  • Develop, implement and maintain quality management systems aligned with Saint-Gobain’s internal standards and procedures standards and EHS guidelines
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process reliability and product quality
  • Review and approve technical specifications, certificates of conformity and customer documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve customer complaints and implement preventive measures
  • Support internal audits and ensure compliance with corporate QA Expectations
  • Lead and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Chair daily morning quality meetings to review key metrics, issues and priorities

Research & Development

  • Participate in the formulation, development and testing of new products (e.g. mortars, adhesives, plasters, coatings, waterproofing systems).
  • Improve existing product performance to meet market trends, customer needs and sustainability goals.
  • Conduct laboratory trials, prototypes, and pilot production runs to assess product performance, durability, and market relevance
  • Evaluate raw materials and alternative suppliers for quality, cost, and performance optimization
  • Support technical validation of new materials, equipment, or manufacturing processes
  • Ensure product data sheets, safety sheets and technical documents are accurate and updated.

Technical Support & Market Engagement

  • Provide technical assistance to sales, operations and customers regarding product application and troubleshooting
  • Participate in on-site demonstrations, product training sessions, and technical workshops as and when required
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights to support future product improvements
  • Participate actively in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) daily activities

EHS and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and corporate policies
  • Participate in HSE activities such as Safety Checklists, OSHA, SMATS, EMATS and “I Care” cards
  • Maintain a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management

Leadership

  • Create and lead according to the culture and values of Saint-Gobain
  • Create an environment built on trust, open and transparent communication, innovation and pro-active behaviours

Corporate Governance

  • Drive adherence and compliance to all legislative requirements, Principles of Conduct & Action, Corporate Governance and Internal Control Reference Framework
  • All such duties and/or activities assigned by management/board as and when required.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in QC/QA, R&D, or technical laboratory work (preferably in construction materials or manufacturing)
  • Familiarity with ISO Standards, QMS, and laboratory safety practices
  • Proficiency in laboratory equipment and testing software/tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction materials (dry mix mortar, construction chemicals, concrete admixtures, etc.)
  • Assertive, well spoken with excellent verbal and written communication skills in French, English and Creole
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to develop good working relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, plans well so deadlines are met, and quality output is maintained, with optimised resources
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct structured trials and interpret laboratory/field test results
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure
