POSITION SUMMARY
The QA/QC Lead provides field leadership for the Quality Assurance/Quality Control team on utility-scale solar construction projects.
This position oversees daily quality inspection activities, coordinates with Operations and Engineering, mentors QA/QC Inspectors, and ensures all work complies with project specifications, customer requirements, engineering drawings, and applicable codes.
The QA/QC Lead plays a critical role in preventing rework, improving construction quality, and ensuring successful project turnover and commissioning.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITY
Quality Culture & Standards
- Champion a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project.
- Lead quality initiatives that support safe, efficient, and defect-free construction.
- Ensure project quality objectives align with company standards and customer expectations.
Defect Prevention & Rework Reduction
- Promote proactive quality planning to reduce punch list items and rework.
- Support successful project commissioning and final acceptance.
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Project Management to achieve project milestones.
OPERATIONAL EXECUTION
Field Inspection Leadership
- Lead and coordinate daily QA/QC inspection activities.
- Supervise and mentor QA/QC Inspectors assigned to the project.
- Verify construction activities comply with approved IFC drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical installations for compliance.
- Perform hold-point inspections, witness testing, and final acceptance inspections.
Documentation & Corrective Actions
- Review and approve inspection reports, punch lists, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate corrective actions with Superintendents, Foremen, Lead Technicians, and subcontractors.
- Track deficiencies through completion and verify corrective actions have been implemented.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain organized project quality documentation and records.
Commissioning & Turnover
- Participate in commissioning, turnover, and owner inspections.

- Provide direct leadership and daily guidance to QA/QC Inspectors.
- Mentor team members on inspection techniques, quality standards, and documentation.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new QA/QC personnel.
- Encourage a culture of ownership and pride in workmanship.
Communication & Collaboration
- Coordinate quality activities with Superintendents, Project Managers, Engineers, and Safety personnel.
- Conduct quality meetings and communicate expectations clearly.
- Foster collaboration between field operations and quality teams.

COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT
Quality Management System
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Verify compliance with project specifications, contract documents, engineering standards, and customer requirements.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
Regulatory & Industry Standards
- Ensure inspections comply with OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, ASTM, ACI, NETA, and other applicable standards.
- Escalate quality concerns that could impact safety, schedule, cost, or system performance.
Records & Confidentiality
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection records, and turnover packages.
- Protect confidential project information and proprietary company documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of quality control experience in utility-scale solar, commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction.
- Previous experience leading QA/QC personnel or inspection teams preferred.
- Experience with project commissioning and closeout documentation preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction
- NFPA 70E
- First Aid / CPR
- Certified Quality Inspector — CQI, CWI, or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
