Job Summary:

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, fabricated components, painted parts, and finished kiosk assemblies to ensure they meet CTS quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This role serves as a critical link between Purchasing, Manufacturing, Shipping & Receiving, and Engineering by identifying quality concerns before products enter production or are shipped to customers.

In addition to quality inspection responsibilities, the Quality Control Specialist supports the Shipping & Receiving function by receiving, documenting, and properly storing inspected materials within inventory. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards while supporting efficient warehouse operations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Inspect incoming fabricated metal, plastic, electrical, and purchased components to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Inspect painted parts to ensure proper finish quality, color consistency, adhesion, and overall appearance.
  • Inspect completed kiosk assemblies to verify proper mechanical and electrical assembly, fit and finish, labeling, and overall workmanship.
  • Perform final quality inspections prior to shipment to ensure products meet CTS quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Utilize measuring devices including calipers, tape measures, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain complete quality records.
  • Identify non-conforming materials or assemblies and communicate findings promptly to the appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate rework activities and ensure quality issues are resolved prior to production or shipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Manufacturing leadership to resolve quality concerns and identify root causes.
  • Recommend improvements to quality processes and inspection procedures.

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Support

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify materials against purchase orders and packing documentation.
  • Inspect received materials before they are accepted into inventory.
  • Label, identify, and properly store approved inventory in designated warehouse locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the MRP system.
  • Report shipment discrepancies, damaged materials, or supplier quality concerns to Purchasing.
  • Assist with inventory organization and material flow to support efficient production operations.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities as needed.

Documentation & Process Compliance

  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, receiving documentation, and quality records.
  • Follow established quality procedures, inspection plans, and company work instructions.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation of non-conforming materials.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and warehouse operations.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, Production, and Engineering teams to ensure timely resolution of quality concerns.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to production personnel regarding quality expectations.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment and inspection equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized warehouse and inspection area.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support other warehouse and manufacturing activities as business needs require.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education & Experience

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of quality control, manufacturing, inspection, or related experience.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred

  • Experience in metal fabrication, plastics manufacturing, or electromechanical assembly.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.

Pay: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour
