Talascend is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our
Quality Control
Specialist position located in Havre de Grace, MD.
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Assists the interim Quality Manager at the HDG plant on all aspects of the Quality Management System, in alignment with the client’s Global Quality Processes. This includes maintaining an auditable Quality System according to ISO-9001, GFSI certifications (Food Safety), and other industry certifications. Ensures quality of services and products by utilizing risk assessment principles to improve processes. Assists with managing the Quality Control lab to meet process control and customer requirements timely.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
:
Quality Assurance
Improves the local Quality Management System in line with the client’s Global Quality Processes, maintaining compliance with ISO-9001, GFSI, and other certifications.
Tracks goals and KPIs, reports Quality Metrics, and conducts annual Management Reviews.
Prepares for and conducts site audits, including customer, certification, technical visits, and inspections. Develops internal audits and manages corrective actions.
Assists with Supplier Qualification, monitors supplier performance, and addresses non-conformances.
Ensures adherence to Management of Change processes and advises on impacts to Quality and Regulated Products.
Quality Control
Manages the Quality Control Lab and coordinates daily activities, ensuring proper testing methods are followed.
Monitors production, product quality, and acts as final release authority for atypical results, ensuring timely investigations and releases.
Reviews SPC data, supports investigations, and collaborates with production to apply statistical tools for process control.
Industry-specific Programs
Participates in HACCP team and is a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI). Maintains Food Safety and GMP programs, supporting risk assessments and preventative controls.
Documents mock recalls and ensures GMP inspections conform to standards.
Coordinates product labels, certificates of analysis, and maintains industry-specific licenses and permits.
Supports development of new products, trials, and technology transfers, ensuring proper qualification frequency.
STRATEGIC FOCUS:
Maintains certifications such as ISO 9001, BRC, Kosher, Halal, and IPEC GMP.
Drives continuous improvement in quality, food safety, and GMP programs.
Reduces quality-related costs and enhances customer satisfaction through preventative measures.
Adheres to safety, health, and environmental policies, SOPs, cGMPs, and regulations. Contributes to ongoing safety and quality improvements.
