Job Summary:
The primary focus of this position is to oversee the work of Inspectors who are acting as the utility company’s qualified company representative to oversee the safety, quality and/or operations of contractors working on utility company’s property.
Example of Duties:
Schedules inspectors, contractor crew counts and outages.
Determines the resources needed to complete the assigned work.
Oversees inspectors, ensuring inspections are done in a timely and efficient manner.
Ensures that all outages and clearances are completed by the end of the designated time.
Coordinates training for inspectors.
Collaborates on resources needed for inspectors.
Oversees inspection quality control, reviews QA audits for completion.
Oversees processes, reviews daily crew logs for completion.
Reviews daily timesheets and weekly rollups.
Handles escalation of issues before going to the customer, troubleshooting, conflict resolution, etc.
Handles all customer communications, including field and incident reporting
Acts as the liaison between the utility company and the contractor.
Fills in as an inspector when needed.
May provide oversight to or order materials and prepare job packages
May prepare regulatory reporting
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient using software applications on a computer and iPad.
Plan, coordinate and organize work to successfully meet deadlines.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Ability to read and interpret job designs, safety plans and permit requirements.
Familiar with Title 8 and NECA (National Electric Contractor Association) rules and requirements.
Familiar with Program Safety Plan or Project Specific Safety Plan.
Familiar with CPUC General Orders 95 (OH) and 128 (UG).
Knowledgeable in Utility Procedure TD-2908P-01.
Extremely knowledgeable of utility company standards and able to train other personnel.
Interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Experience/Education:
Journeyman Lineman QEW
Transmission & Distribution Crew Overwatch and Quality Assurance Inspection oversight require at least five years of experience performing QEW work on utility company property.
Three to five years of management experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license, Class C, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier.
