Company Background:
Culture Fresh Foods, Inc is a Dairy and Non-Dairy processing facility headquartered in Naugatuck, CT. The facility produces a wide range of plant based spoonable and spreadable cultured and ESL (extended shelf life) products for private label, copack and under its own brand.
The Lab Technician conducts appropriate observations and verifications of materials, work in progress (WIP), finished goods (FG), and equipment to assure compliance with product standards as required by GMP, HACCP, and standard specifications. Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring all products produced are safe and meet quality standards. Enforces and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), safety guidelines, and quality assurance and food safety programs. The position is managed and directly reports to the QA Manager of the Company.
Leadership Duties and Responsibilities of this position:
Organizes sampling based on the production plan
Organizes all monitoring, calibration and verification based on monitoring plans
Organizes retests
Schedules lab cleaning
Scheduling of reference tests
Scheduling the waste water plan
Responsible for ordering supplies as needed
Keep the work instructions updated
Work closely with the QA Manager
Work closely with the production, procurement/shipping, and maintenance departments
Represents the department in continuous improvement teams and other cross-functional activities.
Technical Duties:
Performs microbiological, physical, and chemical analysis of raw materials, process and finished products as per sampling plan
Performs organoleptic analysis of finished products
Documents testing results of raw materials, process and finished products as per sampling plan
Performs and documents analysis of CIP cleaning solutions
Performs and documents calibration and verification as per monitoring plan
Performs and documents environmental monitoring as per monitoring plan
Performs and documents reference tests
Takes and ships waste water samples as per schedule
Ships customer samples
Performs in plant weight checks and temperature checks
Verifies compliance and alerts QA Manager of any deviations from specifications
Implements corrective actions to continuously improve food quality and safety based on lab meetings
Supports trials and first commercial production runs in coordination with involved parties
Performs related duties as assigned by QA Manager
Wears Company appropriate laboratory and safety gear as required
Observe line operations to assure compliance with GMPs, report reoccurring deviations to operations and QA Management as needed.
Keeps QA Manager informed of significant issues or developments identified during daily activities and actions taken to improve the situation.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 6:30PM – 3:30AM
Position Requirements:
Completed studies in food-related subject (food technology)
Several years of professional experience
Analytical and technology experience in the dairy industry, esp. micro-biology
Leadership potential
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, ability to work with diverse workforce and languages.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple functions, disciplines and cultures.
Must pass a company pre-employment drug screening prior to commencing work.
Physical Requirements:
This role may require occasionally lifting 25 to 50 pounds
Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 20 feet
Working Environment:
While performing in this role the individual is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise environments, outside weather in all conditions and may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.

Pay: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour
