Position Summary:
The Director of Quality Assurance will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance functions for OTCs, dietary supplements and nutritional products. This role ensures that all products meet the highest quality standards and comply with applicable regulations, including FDA 21 CFR Part 111, Part 117, Part 211 and other global regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Quality Assurance teams, including training, performance management, and succession planning.
Oversee maintenance of robust Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliant with cGMP, HACCP, FSMA, and FDA requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison with FDA and other regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
Ensure continuous compliance with FDA 21 CFR Parts 111 (Dietary Supplements), 117 (Food Safety), and 210/211 if applicable.
Direct internal and external audits; develop CAPAs and drive timely closure of findings.
Lead product quality investigations, non-conformance handling, and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
Oversee supplier qualification, raw material verification, and contract manufacturer compliance programs.
Ensure appropriate release procedures for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods, including batch record and CoA review.
Support R&D and Operations on new product development, scale-up, and technical transfer from a quality perspective.
Maintain awareness and implement changes based on emerging regulations and industry best practices.
Champion a culture of quality and food safety throughout the organization using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Metrics:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Food Science, Pharmacy, or related field
10+ years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance in the pharmaceutical (OTC), dietary supplement, nutritional products, or food industry.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role with direct FDA regulatory interaction.
In-depth knowledge of FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 111/117, Part 210/211), FSMA, HACCP, GMP, and international standards (e.g., NSF, ISO 22000).
Experience preparing for and leading successful FDA inspections and third-party audits.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Certifications such as PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner, or ASQ-CQE/CQA are highly desirable.

Pay: $130,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
