Summary:

The FSQA Technician monitors and enforces food manufacturing controls, with a strong focus on hygiene, sanitation, and product quality. This role performs quality control testing to support safe, efficient operations and reports to the FSQA Supervisor and/or Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring employees adhere to manufacturing, hygiene and sanitation standards (GMPs) in all departments.
  • Following up product quality by conducting inspection rounds:
    • Production checks – Metal detector (CCP), seals, weight, label review.
  • Be a consistent presence in the assigned production area(s):
    • Conducting visual inspections for GMPs violations in each department.
    • Conduct raw bulk products inspections during production.
      • Conduct finished goods inspections (Quality Checklist program – labels, dates/codes, packaging, etc.)
  • Supporting production staff in problem-solving efforts.
  • Support and enforced SQF guidelines, HACCP analyses and Food Safety pre-requisite programs.
  • Collect, label, log, bag, and organize samples to be sent to lab and verify all orders being sent.
  • Organize daily testing so that the release of the product is done correctly.
  • Check and release product(s) prior to shipment.
  • Maintains a safe, clean work environment by following established rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • 2 years of similar experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Thorough understanding of HACCP; certification preferred or willingness to obtain it. Training will be provided to the right candidate if needed.
  • Thorough understanding of GMPs and food safety procedures.
  • Working knowledge of SQF food safety standards; SQF Practitioner certification preferred or willingness to obtain it. Training will be provided to the right candidate if needed.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining focus for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Required to stand and walk, for long periods throughout the day (95% floor – 5% computer).
