Quality Control Technician Jobs in Aurora, Canada at Treasure Mills Inc.

QC Technician

Position Summary

The Quality Control (QC) Technician is a leadership role within the production environment responsible for proactively ensuring that all products, processes, and personnel consistently meet Treasure Mills’ quality and food safety standards.

This position requires a strong floor presence and the authority to enforce compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, allergen control, and company policies. The QC Technician’s role is preventative — ensuring standards are followed in real time rather than identifying issues after production is complete.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Floor Oversight

  • Maintain a visible and active presence on the production floor to proactively monitor compliance with quality and food safety standards
  • Verify that employees are consistently following GMP, allergen control, sanitation, and operational procedures in real time
  • Intervene immediately when non-compliance is observed to prevent product risk or deviation
  • Provide immediate coaching and guidance to correct behaviours before issues escalate
  • Ensure quality standards are being followed during production — not simply verified after completion
  • Act as a food safety authority within the facility, reinforcing regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Escalate repeated or serious non-conformances to management

Quality Monitoring & Verification

  • Perform in-process and finished product inspections to ensure compliance with product specifications
  • Conduct required quality checks including weight verification, visual inspection, packaging integrity, labeling accuracy, and sensory evaluation
  • Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and document results in accordance with HACCP plans
  • Verify allergen controls and sanitation effectiveness
  • Conduct environmental and product sampling as required
  • Perform other quality and food safety-related duties as assigned by Management to support operational needs

Documentation & Traceability

  • Complete quality control records accurately and in real time
  • Review batch records, production documentation, and lot traceability information
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Maintain records in accordance with SQF and regulatory requirements

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce adherence to SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards
  • Conduct GMP audits and sanitation inspections throughout the facility
  • Identify non-conformances and initiate deviation reports
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits
  • Promote a culture of food safety awareness and accountability

Authority & Accountability

  • Authorized to stop production if food safety, allergen control, or product integrity is compromised
  • Authorized to place product on hold if specifications are not met
  • Responsible for proactive identification and prevention of quality risks
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with established food safety systems

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality control (bakery experience preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMP, and allergen control programs
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to confidently address non-compliance and communicate corrective actions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
        • Flexibility to work various shifts as required

        Work Environment & Schedule

        • 24-hour production facility operating Monday through Friday
          • Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs
