POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Quality Control Technician at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for overseeing material compliance (material sourcing and testing documentation) on multiple projects. Streamline internal documentation to establish an easier system to use and audit. Be proactive and address material issues before they impact projects. Streamline relationships and communication with TxDOT offices and personnel. Travel and support various offices statewide when required.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Perform deficiency reports biweekly to keep deficiencies low as possible
- Perform QMs to eliminate deficiencies
- Enter test results performed by field staff as needed
- Insure proper testing frequency and timely reporting
- Help review mix designs and submit to AO
- Enter and authorize designs upon AO acceptance
- Import required testing from labs and contractors to TxDOT systems
- Review and authorize all testing for projects in site manager
- Repair errors and incomplete tests performed by labs/inspectors
- Perform unauthorized and pending sample reports
- Correct missing, unauthorized, or pending samples in the system
- Receive and review material submittals from contractor
- Work with AO lab to pre-approve material/submittals
- Review S&T report to eliminate test that do not apply to various items
- Assist AO in delivery and tracking of materials to be sent to MTD
- Ensure labs are performing test and documenting correctly and on time
- Request needed S&T adjustments to TxDOT and assist the AO in this process
- Review S&T report to assign testing for installed items
- Review material BOL’s and invoicing
- Reference all materials received against the MPL
- Ensure material sources are approved when changed or not on MPL
- Keep project records for audit purposes
- Perform item trackers to insure proper payment of items and inventory
- Train inspectors to use SiteManager
- Search and review approved labs and lab personnel in SiteManager
- Perform routine audits on material and testing requirements for projects
- Assist records keepers in receiving and filing project documentation
- Clean up/rework drop box to produce consistent document platform
- Develop and update inspector training matrix
- Advise inspectors of required training and help schedule classes
- Run all applicable reports to insure clear reviews and audits
- Assist recordkeepers at estimate to help with deadlines
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Ability to coordinate and administer internal training courses
- Ability to work independently with inspectors SiteManager requirements
