Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician I provides support to the Quality Inspection Department/Fabrication and performs routine clerical, filing and inspection duties. This person will assist with the day to day inspection tasks including but not limited to data entry, filing, performing first article inspection and incoming material and/or product inspection. Additional inspection requirements may be added to assist additional departments will fully support production and any other assignments deemed necessary by management supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
- Understands ISO9001 and AS9100 regulations.
- Inspects purchased and internal manufactured parts for conformance to purchase order, print and specification requirements.
- Performs visual, dimensional, mechanical, and optical inspections per instructions.
- Uses basic to complex inspection measurement equipment including microscopes, optical comparator and coordinate measurement equipment to set up and verify dimensions and geometric tolerances for compliance.
- Works from engineering drawings, internal and external specifications, quality assurance standards, test procedures, and verbal instructions to determine acceptance of product.
- Participates in continuous improvement teams.
- May assist in supporting customer onsite audits.
- Uses computer to document quality records, first article and dimensional reports, and job status, including the scanning and filing of records.
- May assist with lean requirements and participate where required.
- Assists in training lower level inspectors.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
- Understand and live by Esterline’s ethics and business conduct policies
Qualifications/Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Requires a minimum of five years of mechanical inspection experience.
- Two-year technical degree or Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) preferred.
- Certified Green Belt (CSSGB) or Quality Inspector (CQI) a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail and very organized
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications or equivalent.
- Must be able to communicate and understand instruction in English.
- Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal instruction.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, blueprint reading, geometric tolerances, and SPC.
- Demonstrated ability to use basic and advanced inspection measuring equipment.
