Quality Assurance Lab Technician
Protein Solutions is an employee-centered company that exists to create value with our pet food partners by providing quality ingredients and supply chain solutions. Plant operations are 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with an opening on B Shift:
Monday-Wednesday, alternating Sundays 6pm – 6:30am
QA Lab Technicians must be willing to work their scheduled shift including nights and weekends; additional overtime may be required. Protein Solutions also offers shift differential payment for those working nights and weekends. This position starts at $17.46, with a .50 cent shift differential. Position Purpose
The Lab Tech position is responsible for maintaining daily quality standards according to company policy and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, as well as to record and perform analytical tests on finished product. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to analyzing samples from the process and recording data for quality purposes, perform all required analysis which includes Saf-Test Analysis (FFA, PV % Fat), Moisture, Ash, Fat, and Protein, hourly and composite sample, operate and maintain lab equipment, oversee lab during shift, performs any duties as given by the QA Manager or Sanitation/QA Coordinator or shift supervisors and follows all GMP’s and plant SOP’s and safety policies.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Analyze samples from the process, and record data for quality purposes
Perform all required analysis which includes Saf-Test Analysis (FFA, PV % Fat), Moisture, Ash, Fat, and Protein, hourly and composite sample.
Perform proper documentation on all finished products (production sheets)
Operate and maintain lab equipment
Oversee lab during shift
Notify production of any quality problems as they arise during production
Keep lab area clean and orderly
Manage and maintain a sample library system
Perform lab R&D functions as needed
Perform any duties as given by the QA Manager or Sanitation/QA Coordinator or shift supervisors
Follow all GMP’s and plant SOP’s and safety policies
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required
Understanding of basic math principles
Knowledge of basic office computer programs
Ability lab equipment
Problem-solving skills
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
