Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Pay: $19.00/hour

QC Technician / Shuttle Driver

Objective: Accurately inspects, cleans and grades vehicle parts in compliance with Company quality control standards. Assists with loading/unloading of truck and drives assigned route. Prepares parts for shipment and selects the most cost effective and efficient method of shipping.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Performs work following all safety policies and procedures including maintenance and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complies with Company’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of company quality control standards by accurately inspecting and grading vehicle parts and documenting damage.
  • Communicates with sales representatives to describe any discrepancies in quality or inventory of the part.
  • Tests parts in accordance with established Company procedures and testing methods.
  • Maintains records detailing parts defects.
  • Initiates and supports the continual improvement of B&R quality control program.
  • Demonstrates good work habits by keeping work area clean and safe and reporting all safety issues to a supervisor.
  • Able to work required days and hours which may include weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • When driving, performs work following all safety policies and procedures including the company Fleet Safety Program, Driver Safety Rules, and all state and federal regulations (FMCSA) for operating commercial vehicles.
  • Completes vehicle inspection prior to operating truck, may use ELD device or paper logs for longer trips. Keeps fuel log and fuel receipts for each trip, turns in paperwork daily.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, maintain a valid driver’s license, good driving record, DOT medical card and insurability.

This job at time will also require supporting the Shipping department with the following duties:

  • Assist in daily data entry of shipments and outbound deliveries.
  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped comparing shipping routes or methods to determine which one is the best.
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or issue instructions for shipping and delivery of parts.
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as delivery tickets, manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
  • Prepare documents, such as delivery tickets, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route shipments.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • File claims for lost or damaged parts with shipping companies.
  • Follow all operating procedures and work instructions relating to filling and packaging parts for delivery.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure on a regular basis to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Periodic exposure to minimal chemical hazards.
  • Drive an enclosed truck.
  • Work outdoors while loading and unloading goods. Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork. Indoor temperatures may not be controlled.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and lift and carry 50 pounds frequently throughout the day.
  • Standing, walking, bending, and stretching are required regularly.
  • Must have full movement of arms and legs for an eight (8) hour work day.
  • Ability to work at all levels from above the head to the ground including frequent squatting, kneeling and crawling.
  • Must be able to safely lift objects using proper lifting techniques.
  • Must be able to work in all seasonal conditions outdoors or indoors.
  • Must be able to manipulate fine parts and tools.
  • Driving/sitting for long periods of time.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • 1+ years of experience in quality control
  • 1+ years of experience driving commercial vehicles

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Quality control training or education
  • 1+ years of experience in quality control of used vehicle parts
