VanDeMark is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technologist to support plant operations through analytical testing, production support, raw material evaluation, and quality assurance activities. This role is critical to ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while supporting our commitment to Responsible Care principles and a safe workplace.
The Quality Control Technologist performs production sample analyses, raw material testing, urgent product-release testing, and other laboratory functions necessary to maintain efficient laboratory operations. Periodically, the position collaborates with Research & Development personnel to evaluate new materials and products. The successful candidate will understand and follow the Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality Control processes while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and responsible operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform required laboratory test methods accurately, precisely, and in compliance with established procedures and protocols.
- Operate analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the Quality Control laboratory.
- Maintain Emergency Response Training requirements.
- Keep accurate, legible, and detailed laboratory notebooks, records, and testing logs.
- Communicate testing results, observations, and quality-related information to production personnel and other departments.
- Notify the QC Manager when laboratory supplies require replenishment or when concerns arise that could impact product quality, safety, or laboratory effectiveness.
- Support Health, Safety, and Environmental programs through participation, training, and implementation activities.
- Perform administrative tasks, data management activities, and statistical reporting as needed.
- Follow all department, company, and corporate policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Adhere to VanDeMark’s Responsible Care policies and standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific field.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to collect, analyze, summarize, and interpret data.
- Ability to draw conclusions from laboratory results and communicate findings effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial laboratory environment.
Preferred
- Prior laboratory, manufacturing, chemical, or quality control experience.
- Experience operating analytical laboratory equipment, most specifically GC and LC systems
- BA/BS in chemistry , biochemistry, or related fields
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems: mechanical, industrial, analytical, etc.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
- May require standing, walking, lifting laboratory materials, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to comply with all safety and emergency response requirements.
