POSITION AVAILABLE: QUALITY CONTROLLER

This position is at Mooivallei Dairy a cheese factory, part of Sea Harvest and Ladismith Cheese group, at Bonnievale, situated in the picturesque Klein Karoo.

Roles and Responsibilities

–           Monitor and maintain food safety and quality plans and procedures.

–           Conduct quality checks, monitoring PRP’s and ensuring housekeeping and hygiene rules are adhered to during the manufacturing process. 

–           Inspection of all raw materials, packing materials and final products and complete relevant documentation.

–           Maintaining, monitoring and updating food safety policies and procedures.

–           Timely request and checking of COAs from suppliers and administration of COAs.

–           Performing calibrations of various equipment.

–           Perform evaluations on self-life products and retention samples.

–           Perform GMP walkthroughs as per schedule.

–           Assist in mock recalls and traceability exercises.

–           Responsible for yearly refresher training of operational staff.

–           Investigate non-conformances and follow-up as necessary.

–           Monthly environmental monitoring schedules and sampling of scheduled sources.

Requirements

Diploma/ Degree in Food Technology, Food Science or related field or 5 years’ experience of quality control in a FMCG environment. 

–           Experience in the dairy industry will be advantageous.

–           Additional training in PRP’s, HACCP, FSSC 22000 and internal auditing will be advantageous.

–           Fluent in Afrikaans and English, good written and verbal communication skills.

–           Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and strong problem-solving skills.

–           Computer literacy, Excel, Microsoft Office.

Additional requirements

–           Be willing to work nightshifts or overtime as operationally required.

–           Be willing to work during weekends as per schedule. 

–           Reside in Bonnievale, Western Cape or be willing to relocate.

–           Own transport.
