SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Controller to join their team in Somerset West. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field, with 2–3 years’ experience in food manufacturing, fruit processing, or warehouse quality control. Knowledge of FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, ERP systems such as Sage and iComply, and experience with fresh produce, frozen fruit, purees, or juice concentrates will be advantageous. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, are essential.

Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in food manufacturing, fruit processing, or warehouse quality control. Knowledge and understanding of the food processing industry. Knowledge of food safety systems, including FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, or similar standards. Experience working with fresh produce, frozen fruit, purees, or juice concentrates is advantageous. Experience using ERP systems such as Sage and iComply is advantageous. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. FSSC 22000 compliance knowledge and experience. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong administrative and reporting skills. DUTIES: Inspect all incoming raw materials against specifications and release products to production if compliant. Record and communicate all non-conformances. Inspect all incoming vehicles (temperature, cleanliness, etc.). Inspect and verify the quality of products during receiving, storage, and production. Conduct and/or verify chemical analysis, shelf-life testing, and organoleptic tests on products during various operational stages. Ensure final products meet specifications and that COAs match products before release. Prepare product samples for testing. Monitor supplier product quality and provide feedback through reports. Conduct monthly swabs as per the Food Safety Management System schedule. Verify and/or conduct checks as per the Food Safety Management System. Handle customer queries and complaints and provide adequate feedback. Interpret and report test results and provide feedback. Verify all rework products according to the correct procedures. Conduct calibration of scales, thermometers, refractometers, and pH meters. Handle COA queries. Order and maintain stock levels of chemicals and consumables. Investigate and release stock in Q on Sage. Monitor and report on the quality and volumes of packing materials. Assist with and participate in internal quality and food safety audits. Train production employees on quality standards and best practices. HOURS: Rotating shifts.
