JOB SUMMARY:
The Lab Technician I (Packaging) is responsible for Quality Control duties that occur during the clarification and packaging stages of production. This position will be a swing shift base schedule with the option for an earlier start time on days production is not running or is ending early. You may be required to work another shift to cover leaves, absences or help cover shifts for cross training purposes within the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
Complete testing of finished product for packaging release: (AE, alcohol, color, pH, micro, CO2, nitrogen, DO, and filter volume verification)
Possess the ability to trouble shoot and help resolve non-conforming product issues
Complete production monitoring analysis on packaging products: ( CO2, TPO, DO, HSO, AE, alcohol, density, pH, bottle fill heights, crimp checks, secure seal testing, seam checks, nitro testing, keg testing)
Collect samples at prescribed frequencies for: Library, Sensory and Micro. These may consist of bottle, can, keg or tank
Perform routine package line audits for packaging integrity at prescribed frequencies.
Address and troubleshoot any out of spec results on packaging lines
Run Rotech keg on keg lanes and be able to analyze resulting data
Manage product holds and retests when applicable
Data entry into the QC LIMS database
Maintain a clean & safe working environment
Understand the safety hazards associated with your tasks and utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment
Maintenance and cleaning of all QC equipment including instruments such as: Alcolyzer, Gehaltometer, Hach 6110, C-Box, Seam Check Station
Complete all initial and on-going assigned safety training
Cross train in other lab areas on down production days and as opportunity arises.
All other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or food sciences is or at least 2 years of prior experience in a quality monitoring position in a production environment
Ability to perform mathematical analysis and statistical inference, analysis and report on findings
Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple tasks
Excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of brewing & fermentation process a plus
Ability to operate and use a PC computer, and be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs

Salary Range: $23.00-27.00/hour
