About The Role
The Quality Engineer at CIBC India plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions across various banking platforms. This position involves leading and coordinating all aspects of quality assurance and testing activities for assigned projects or initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for establishing and maintaining rigorous testing standards, managing testing teams, and implementing automation and innovative testing solutions to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The role requires technical leadership, compliance oversight, and a focus on continuous process improvement. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including developers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that deliverables meet quality standards and project objectives. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your expertise directly impacts client satisfaction and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience in software testing, with a strong background in API automation and functional testing. Proficiency in automation tools such as Parasoft SOAtest, Postman, REST Assured, or Karate is essential. Candidates should have solid knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and security testing. Hands-on experience with UI testing frameworks like Playwright (JavaScript) and automation frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, Appium, or TestNG is highly desirable. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, including tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, is required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are necessary for success. Additional knowledge of agile methodologies, web technologies, and cloud testing platforms like Databricks will be advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach to process improvement and automation adoption.
Responsibilities
- Develop, publish, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and automation scripts to ensure thorough coverage of testing requirements.
- Identify, obtain, and manage test data and environments to facilitate efficient testing processes.
- Estimate testing efforts and manage associated financials, ensuring adherence to project budgets and timelines.
- Track and report key QA/QE metrics such as velocity, defect slippage, and test coverage to stakeholders.
- Manage defect lifecycle from identification to resolution, ensuring timely documentation and follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QE standards and support the implementation of new standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process, policy, or tool enhancements to optimize testing workflows.
- Provide technical feedback on design and development activities, assessing testing impacts and suggesting improvements.
- Lead the integration of automation, AI, and emerging technologies to expedite testing and improve quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with project teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to coordinate testing activities and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by sharing best practices and mentoring team members.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, standards, and controls, supporting the organization’s regulatory and quality commitments.
- Deliver testing services across multiple domains including retail banking, mobile applications, web platforms, UX, APIs, and accessibility testing.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure quality standards are consistently met and exceeded.
