Quality Engineer
Position Summary:
Seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Quality Engineer to support quality control and assurance efforts within a manufacturing and distribution facility. This position is ideal for an early-career professional with foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes and a desire to grow within a hands-on engineering role.
The engineer will work closely with a senior engineer, supporting quality system implementation, product inspections, compliance initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop both technical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Systems Implementation:
Assist with implementing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS), aligned with ISO 9001 or similar standards.
Product Inspections & Testing:
Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections using measurement tools to verify compliance with product standards.
Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
Process Quality Control (PQC)
Final Quality Assurance (QA)
Data Collection & Analysis:
Analyze quality-related data to detect trends and root causes of defects or failures.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain records of inspections, calibrations, and process changes. Assist with drafting procedures, work instructions, and quality protocols.
Compliance & Audits:
Support efforts to ensure products comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. Participate in internal and external audits.
Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
Collaborate with teams to identify defects and contribute to corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
Continuous Improvement:
Assist in process improvement projects focused on quality and efficiency.
Reporting:
Prepare and present quality metrics and findings to engineering and management teams.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Technical Knowledge:
Basic understanding of quality tools (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC), ISO standards, and measurement instruments.
Attention to Detail:
Accurate inspection and documentation skills to identify product or process inconsistencies.
Problem-Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot issues and participate in root cause analysis efforts.
Communication:
Effective verbal and written communication to work across departments and document quality activities.
Collaboration:
Strong team player who works well with engineers, production staff, and management.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with quality-related software tools, Excel, and possibly statistical tools such as Minitab.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or quality environment is a plus.
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
Six Sigma Green Belt
ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
