Quality Engineer

Our client, a Fortune 500 company and global leader in designing and manufacturing high-precision, mission-critical components used across the medical, life sciences, aerospace, and industrial sectors, is currently seeking a Quality Engineer. This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust quality assurance processes, analyzing product quality data, and implementing innovative strategies to enhance overall product quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Process customer complaints and corrective action requests; primary tasks to include verifying received products and issuing of work orders for evaluation and/or repair, compiling failure evaluation details, updating database, performing root cause analysis and preparing failure reports

Perform final inspection activities for OEM products, including preparing formal inspection reports

Perform final inspection for first article prototype builds

Perform the QAE role for New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.

Coordinate / conduct qualification activities on first article purchases (FAI).

Perform instrumented testing on products and maintain measurements library.

Assist in the preparation and revision of manufacturing work instructions.

Assist in validating and documenting internal nonconformities.

Assist with in-process inspection in metal fabrication areas, such as machining centers, forming centers and welding, as needed.

Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) with a focus on building a continuous improvement environment across the business

Perform internal ISO 9001 audits and support external audits

Work with Manufacturing Engineering to identify and deliver improvement activities through the application of process improvement methodologies and innovation

Monitor QMS performance to drive sound data-driven decisions, proactively identifying the beginning of trends that will affect business management system performance

Monitor and report on quality key performance indicators to assess performance and implement any resulting corrective action plans

Interface with Materials Management and supplier representatives to address vendor Quality issues

Support product material compliance initiatives such as REACH, ROHS, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, etc.

Qualifications:

BS degree in an Engineering discipline and 3-5 years hands on experience

Experience in an ISO 9000 manufacturing business

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite

Familiarity with fabricated sheet metal design and manufacturing practices is a plus

Familiarity with electromechanical assembly and test practices

Experienced in the use of mechanical measuring instruments and drawing interpretation to perform complex inspections

Experience in the use of electronic test equipment

Ability to present data / information in a logical / organized manner

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
