Summary

As a Quality Control Lab Technician at Kelly’s Foods, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our poultry and food products. This position is essential to our mission of providing top-notch products to our customers while adhering to industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspecting Raw materials such as: Poultry, Meat, Seasoning, and Packaging using industry-appropriate methods, such as verification of lot numbers, quality of the product based on customer specs.
Checking that the production lines adhere to standards and procedures and complying with SQF and regulatory guidelines
Reviewing finished product specifications to compare to produced goods
Recording inspection results of all products produced by completing reports
Training the production team in quality control measures to improve product excellence
Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
Verifying scale and metal detection devices following calibration requirements and calling for repairs if needed.
Using calipers and micrometers to measure products
Collecting and compiling statistical quality data of produced products
Determining the causes of product defects and reworks
Verify product formulas, product pick-up and mixing methods
Analyze test results and compare them to established specifications and control limits
Back up QA assurance in absence/vacation
Other duties as assigned

Pre-employment Education Requirements:

HACCP certification preferred, high school diploma

Pre-employment Work Experience Requirements:

Experience in manufacturing, storage and distribution preferred; experience working in a quality-controlled environment preferred; experience supervising employees preferred; experience in poultry processing preferred; experience with regulatory bodies and policies preferred; experience in quality control; proficiency with e-mail, word processors, spreadsheets and label-making applications required

Pre-employment Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; must be able to bend, stoop and reach repeatedly; must be able to use fingers, hands and wrists for a prolonged period, lift to 70-pound

Active Skills Required:

Able to communicate efficiently, both verbally and written; able to handle multiple projects; ability to remain calm during crisis situations; critical thinking and interpersonal skills; ability to anticipate problems; must be highly organized and require little supervision. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Active Training Required:

HACCP certification

PPE Required:

Smock, apron, hair net, beard net (if applicable), closed-toed shoes

Pay: $21.00 – $22.00 per hour
