Position Overview

Join the Modus Advanced team as a Quality Technician Level 1 and become the critical gatekeeper ensuring that components for life-saving medical devices, mission-critical defense systems, and aerospace applications meet the exacting standards that lives depend on. In this essential role, you’ll implement our rigorous quality processes at the receiving and first article inspection stages, verifying that every component meets dimensional, cosmetic, and documentation requirements before release.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming and First Article Inspection

● Verify purchased parts using precision measurement and hand tools including Laser QC systems, calipers, and durometers

● Record detailed measurement data per engineering drawings and customer specifications

● Apply appropriate tolerances and sample sizes for pass/fail determinations

● Conduct thorough visual inspections and sorting processes to identify cosmetic defects

● Verify compliance with industry standards including AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements

● The ability to think quicky and ask why when something is not right.

Advanced Measurement and Documentation

● Generate comprehensive first article inspection reports and customer-requested documentation

● Maintain detailed, traceable records using advanced software systems and ERP integration

● Document non-conforming product rejections and coordinate proper dispositions

● Support statistical process control initiatives and quality metrics tracking

Quality Control and Product Release

● Identify and properly mark approved products for release to production departments

● Maintain protective packaging and handling procedures to preserve part integrity and cleanliness

● Transport approved components to appropriate departments while maintaining traceability

● Identify, quarantine, and communicate non-conforming products to relevant personnel

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

● Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English

● Must be a US Citizen

● High school diploma or equivalent required

● Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience preferred

● Manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred

● GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) knowledge preferred

Technical Skills

● Proficiency with precision measurement instruments

● Intermediate mathematics skills for statistical analysis and tolerance calculations

● Intermediate computer skills including ERP software (Business Central) and inspection software

● Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions

● Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system principles

● Knowledge of basic warehouse and manufacturing principles

● Comfort working in temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
