About the Company

United Stars is seeking a Quality Engineer to support quality systems, manufacturing processes, customer requirements, and continuous improvement within a stainless steel tubing manufacturing environment.

About the Role

The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager and be responsible for implementing and maintaining technical and quality systems. The role focuses on failure analysis, corrective actions, automotive quality requirements, audits, APQP, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform failure analysis on customer and supplier nonconforming materials.
  • Identify root causes and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Resolve customer claims and manufacturing issues involving material grades, processing, and applications.
  • Prepare PPAPs, Control Plans, and PFMEAs for automotive customers.
  • Support and participate in the internal audit program.
  • Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for part measurement and validation.
  • Prepare quality reports, data analysis, and management presentations.
  • Prepare documentation and participate in quarterly management reviews.
  • Oversee the APQP process.
  • Coordinate and support TS16949 surveillance audits.
  • Lead quality improvement and error-proofing activities.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing quality assurance activities in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and APQP.
  • Experience with TS16949/IATF 16949 quality systems and internal audits.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8D methodology and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate quality activities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of ASME and ASTM standards related to stainless steel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in stainless steel tubing or tube mill manufacturing.
  • Degree or background in Metallurgy or Materials Engineering.
  • Experience with CMM programming and operation.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, including 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, and problem solving.
  • Experience with Minitab.
  • Experience driving error-proofing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred: Metallurgy or Materials Engineering background, stainless steel tube mill experience, and CMM experience.
