Job Description
Responsibilities – Expectations of the job
Develops and implements APQP & PPAP quality planning (first article, control plans, PFMEA, process flow, capability study, SPC, R&R study and IP inspection sheets) for all new parts and annual re-validation PPAP’s of specific parts.
Provides back-up to the QA Director and acts as a key decision maker in the department.
Primary representative for IATF/ISO/customer auditing activities.
Reviews production inspection and IP outputs, and suggests process improvements to management/ownership.
Assists in the training of inspection personnel in quality related processes, measurement methods and applications.
Coordinates SPC and provides interpretations of customers’ prints/specifications.
Manages the MSA and calibration system to make sure it is accurate/current.
Assists in the management of ISO/IATF internal auditing and continuous improvement processes (lead internal auditor).
Provides technical support to engineering in the development concepts of inspection fixture gages for proper dimensional checking of customer products.
Maintains document control of quality documentation, inspection records and customers’ drawings to ensure requirements are up to date.
Maintains product/material traceability and lot numbers thru IP forms.
Works with customers to field any questions that may arise pertaining to new or current parts and requests formal deviations as required.
Job Knowledge & Skills
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in production inspection, quality assurance and quality management.
Extensive knowledge of ISO 9001.
Familiarity with 8D, 5-Why and Fishbone problem solving.
Strong knowledge in APQP & PPAP quality planning.
Experience in the interpretation and application of GD&T.
Excellent organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent writing & communication skills.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of SPC statistical process control.
