Hydro is one of the main suppliers of aluminium extrusions committed to delivering high finish products to the automotive and engineering industries within the UK and European markets. Due to our on-going expansion, we are currently looking for a Production Manager within our General Engineering & Fabrication department to join our fast paced manufacturing site in Bedwas, Caerphilly.

Role Purpose:
Provide support to the Quality team on the development and introduction of new products and current product running changes.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Ensure quality targets and deadlines within a project are met within a timely manner.
Providing quality input at the design stage of new projects to ensure optimum design to meet customer requirements.
Provide quality input for development and update of Design FMEA and Process FMEA.
Assist design and development with the manufacture of prototype parts.
Assist in the control and administration of the Customer and Supplier APQP system documentation.
Support administration and approval of the Customer PPAP documentation and report writing.
Support actions on Supplier PPAP submissions.
Lead analytical studies both geometrical and physical to identify part quality concerns and implement corrective actions across the supply and manufacturing chain.
Support the development of Control Plans and Operating Instructions
Work close with the customers to support robust quality actions.
Support on quality issues relating to all internal production equipment and processes.
Support to other roles within the quality operation to achieve the corporate, departmental, and cross functional goals.
Lead continuous improvement projects.
Support customer concern through NPI and mass production using customer defined principles (8D).
Reviewing of customer portals to gather performance matrices.
Assist and Support IATF16949 audits.
To ensure daily reporting of right first time (RFT) and Quality concerns to individual production areas via daily meetings.
Ability to inspect components with a range of manual measurement equipment such as Micrometres, callipers, height gauges, plug and thread gauges.
The employee has the authority to halt production and stop shipment if quality standards are not met. This includes identifying and addressing any quality issues that may compromise product integrity, ensuring compliance with established quality protocols, and taking necessary actions to prevent defective products from reaching customers.
Experience:
Quality assurance: 2 years (required)
Tier 1 Automotive Company: 3 years (preferred)
New Product Introduction: 3 years (preferred)
